Day 4 - Dobërdoll to Milishevc

At just over eighteen kilometers, this is one of the longer days covered distance wise but was also one of our favourites across the Peaks of the Balkans.

After ripping the band-aid off at the very start with a sharp 500 metre ascent to the top, you will find yourself standing at the Tripoint, the peak where the borders of Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo meet. Here you can give yourself a pat on the back as that was the hard work done for the day.

The next part of the walk involves walking along the ridgeline where you can enjoy 360 views of Kosovo and Montenegro. To add to the beauty, you will be walking through beautiful long wildflowers and grass. Theres also plenty of wild blueberry bushes that you can forage for a quick mountain treat.

Eventually you will arrive at Roshkodol Pass, which will mark the end of the ridgeline walking and a great spot to have a break and some lunch. The view of valley below is why this was one of our favourite legs. The colors of the wildflowers and trees is just breathtaking.

After lunch you will begin the descent down into the valley. It starts off a bit steep, but quickly dies down into a gradual slope that you will walk down for the next nine kilometers. Its easy walking, with just so much life surrounding you so make sure to just take it slow and enjoy. Theres a few homestays along the way that you can stop at for a rest and refreshment. We even met an Aussie there who had come back to help fix his father’s lodge.

Eventually you will get to the bottom and find yourself at the village of Zllonopoj. This marks the start of the last little push. Theres a bit of a steep walk up the road for about a kilometer before you get to the top and start walking into Milishevc. This beautiful village in Kosovo is incredibly peaceful and once of our favourite places that we stayed at. We stayed in Chalet Rrusta where we met a few of the people from the night before. After some cards, well deserved beers, and an amazing dinner we called it a night and got ready for the next day its famously large descent.
